Barns can be hot and stifling places at the best of times and when we have unusaully hot temperatures as in the UK heatwave of 2006 they can be very unpleasant places for both livestock and employees alike!

These conditions can have a very adverse effect on production and efficiency of all exposed to it, to say nothing of accelerating spoilage, and the constant annoyance of flying insects.

The fact is, a cool cow is a productive cow. Repeated studies have shown that HVLS fans lower the temperatures in dairy barns by 3-5° C, resulting in significant increases in milk production. Moving air breaks up the moisture-saturated boundary layer surrounding the body, accelerating evaporation to produce a cooling effect. During heating seasons, Airvolution HVLS technology de-stratifies uneven temperatures that occur at each level throughout the facility - forcing unused heated air from the ceiling down to floor where it can have a positive impact on employees. This heat differential can be in excess of 8° C (15° F) from ceiling to floor, enabling significant cost savings when thermostat levels are reduced.
